‘Florence Broadhurst; Past, Present, Future’ at Sydney DesignEx 2008
After 8 years of globetrotting, Florence Broadhurst fabrics and wallpapers returned home to Sydney in April for the industry event of the Asia Pacific year - Design Ex 2008. On a 56sq metre stand, Signature Prints hosted ‘Florence Broadhurst, Past, Present, Future' showcasing the flamboyant colourways of Broadhurst's 1970's wallpapers, then jumping to 2008 to display how the designs are used today in residential and commercial interiors.
Running from Thursday the 10 th to Saturday the 12 th of April at the Sydney Exhibition Centre, the Florence Broadhurst stand was a must see, winning the award for best stand in the Interior Trends area of the show. Day one was a showstopper for press and industry professionals alike, with world renowned body artist Emma Hack painting a live model in Florence Broadhurst's Japanese Floral design on the stand. Visitors watched as the intricate design was hand painted over an eight hour time period to eventually leap of the wall and take human form. To view more of Emma's work visit www.emmahack.com.au
For the rest of the show visitors were invited to follow Florence Broadhurst around the world with current trends in America , Asia and Europe . Collaborations between the Florence Broadhurst brand and luxury luggage label Eclettica, Murobond Paints, and Cadrys Rugs were also on display, giving a preview of the direction the brand will be taking in the year to come.
‘Florence Broadhurst, Past, Present and Future' also marked the Australian release of the Glamour Wallpaper collection featuring eight designs from the archive unseen since the 1970's. A spectacular co-ordinate Glamour Silk Collection was also previewed. (The Glamour Silk Collection is due for European release in the 4 th quarter of 2008).
