Gav Barbey's "Ned Kelly Hanged" series of limited edition prints are now available in Signature Prints' showroom.

In a move that reflects Signature Prints' commitment to exciting new Australian artists, they are delighted to announce a limited edition of prints from Sydney-based painter Gav. The prints are from Gav's "Ned Kelly Hanged" collection.

Gav's work is on display at Signature Prints' showroom, adjacent to their studio and factory in Rosebery, Sydney.

Signature Prints' marketing director Helen Lennie is "blown away" by his work and excited to be working with him.

"Having spent the past four years focused on international markets, we are now turning our attention to the local market. Our first aim is to make our showroom/gallery different from the local 'norm,' using skills we have learnt overseas. Our second is to make it alive and dynamic - so we are showing Gav's original and print works alongside our own fabrics and wallpapers, which makes for an incredibly exciting visual experience."

The affiliation is important for Gav too. He says:

"It seems natural to collaborate with artisans and unshackle the ties of isolation, to draw the breath of a new inspiration and be both master and student in taking a body of works on a travel visa to a new destination."

Gav's body of work includes paintings, drawings, pours of colour on paper, and sculpture in both whimsical fibreglass and serious bronze.

He sees his collaboration with Signature Prints as being:

"Not merely an opportunity to reproduce prints in the traditional form, but to encapsulate the essence of an original work - their layers, textures, translucencies and colours.

"This series of prints has taken their infancy from the lyrical free-form pour of paint. Like a continuous line, they rise off the paper in the 3-dimensional form."
